Herman's Obituary
Herman's life began on October 8, 1938 in Chicago, the son of Clara Elliott and Curtis Morrow. He is a 1958 graduate of Dowagiac Central High School, where he was an outstanding athlete. Herman was united in marriage to the former Mary Elizabeth Pompey on April 23, 1960 in Dowagiac. He was employed by Clark Equipment in Benton Harbor until the plant closed and spent over 20 years at Contech in Dowagiac. Herman was an active member of the Second Baptist Church, serving in many areas including being a faithful deacon of the church for 39 years. He enjoyed serving his church and helping others. He faithfully met with his friends at Chestnut Towers for lunch everyday. He was active in the Jaycees, the Dowagiac Volunteer Fire Department, and coaching Rocket football. His greatest joy was his family which includes his children Craig (Frozine) Morrow of Virginia Beach, VA, Carla (Darron) Murray of Waukesha, WI and Corey Morrow of Dowagiac, his beautiful grandchildren which he adored, Angel Morrow, Rafael Slater, Joy Gordon, Darron Murray II, Miles Murray and Desiree' Murray, his siblings James Curtis Morrow, Irvin Morrow, Victor Davis, Marilyn “Jean†Smith, Marcella Stribbling and a host of nieces, nephews and all of his Second Baptist Church family. Herman went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday March 13, 2010 from Lakeland Specialty Hospital. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Morrow in 2000, his parents, two children Baby Morrow and Johnny Morrow and a brother Tyrone Davis. His family will receive friends on Thursday from 12 noon until 1 p.m. at Second Baptist Church (Paul St.) where his home going service will be held at 1 p.m. led by Pastor Tyrone Pace. He will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery following services. Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to his family in care of Corey Morrow. Yazel & Clark Chapel is serving the family.
