Leslie's Obituary
Leslie's life began on October 4, 1921 in Pokagon , the son of Levi and Glennie (Cooper) Springsteen. He is a 1939 graduate of Dowagiac Central High School, where he had a dance band called the Commodores. Leslie served his country in the United States Navy during World War II serving as a Morse code operator. He was united in marriage to the former Warrene Lieber in 1941 at the Federated Church in Dowagiac. Leslie worked as a maintenance man in several area companies and retired in 2007, at the age of 86, from Dowsett Spring Company. He was a life member of the VFW Post #1855 in Dowagiac. His family includes his wife Warrene Springsteen of Dowagiac, daughter Andrea (John) Rosevelt of Decatur, son Tim (Georgann) Springsteen of Dowagiac, 11 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren. Leslie passed away on Tuesday January 12, 2010 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. He is preceded in death by four brothers Morris, Marshall, Carlisle, and Phillip Springsteen. His family will gather with friends on Friday from 4- 6 p.m. at Yazel & Clark Chapel for a time of remembrance and sharing. He will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery at a later date.
