Frankie's Obituary

Frankie's life began on March 31, 1914 in Matthews, IL, the daughter of Lum and Rose McWilliams. She was united in marriage to Ralph Karnes in 1931 and married a second time to Arlie K. Sullivan in 1989. She was employed as a practical nurse at the Chateau Nursing Home. Frankie enjoyed dancing in her younger years, so much that you could not get her off the dance floor. She had a remedy for every ill, and was affectionately known as “Grandma Doctor”. Frankie enjoyed life and those around her. Her loving family includes her son Eugene (Roberta) Karnes of Dowagiac, her 5 grandchildren Robin Matlock, Rick Karnes, Tammie Peffley, Eugene Karnes, Kim Wilkins, 15 great grandchildren and 18 great great grandchildren. Frankie passed away on January 4, 2010 at Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital. She is preceded in death by both husbands, a son Vernon Karnes, grandson Scott Karnes, sisters Willie Snedacker and Alvie McNeal, and brothers Ernie, Fred and Columbus McWilliams. Her family will gather with friends on Thursday from 2-3 p.m. at Yazel & Clark Chapel where her funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. led by Pastor Bill Martin of the Keeler General Baptist Church.
