Lyle's Obituary
Lyle’s life began on March 2, 1920 in Kalamazoo, the son of Ed and Laura (Goings) Nichols. He was employed by the Clark Equipment Company in Buchanan, working in the foundry for many years. Lyle served his country in the United States Army during World War II, seeing service in the Pacific Theatre and Africa. He was united in marriage to Annie Ruth Nichols on August 28, 1940 in South Bend and she precedes him in death. Lyle was married a second time to Nellie Jackson, who survives. His loving family includes his wife Nellie of Atlanta, children Lyle (Beverly) Nichols of Dowagiac, Michael Nichols of East Point, GA, Brian Nichols of South Bend, Delores Bonds of CA, Barbara Johnson of South Bend and Irene Nichols of South Bend, foster children and caregivers Lanise, Megan, Omar and Terrence, 27 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a host of other loving relatives. Lyle passed away on October 14, 2009 at South Fulton Medical Center in Atlanta. He is preceded in death by his first wife Annie Ruth Nichols, and three brothers Lawrence, William and James Nichols. His family will receive friends on Friday from 1-2 p.m. at McLauchlin-Clark Funeral Home where his funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday led by Reverend Tyrone Pace of the Second Baptist Church.
