Eva's Obituary

Eva’s life began on January 18, 1919 in Libertyville, IL, the daughter of Lloyd and Mary (Erfitt) Bennett. She was united in marriage to Emil Behnke on June 11, 1938 in Dowagiac. Eva was a homemaker and a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dowagiac. Her loving family includes her children Ronald E. (Barbara) Behnke of Cassopolis, William L. (Karen) Behnke of Cassopolis, and Sherry (James) Poloshak of Coloma; grandchildren John (Tina) Behnke, Judy ( Jeff) Johnson, Jamie Behnke, Lloyd (Christy) Behnke, Mike (Stacy) Behnke, Jim Noack, and Jodi Odem, great grandchildren Matthew and Nathan Behnke, Kyle and Valerie Johnson, James and Sonny Behnke, Mercedes and Hunter Behnke, Ashley, James Jr, Jessie and Zack Noack and step grandchildren Samantha and Stephanie, Zech and Tyler Huston, Bryanna Behnke and Nickie Quadros, sisters Vera Geideman of Niles, Marian Stiles of Berrien Springs, and Mary Braman of East Jordan. Eva passed away on Tuesday June 9, 2009 at Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital. She is preceded in death by her husband Emil in 1995 and brothers Carlisle, Archie, Peter and Calvin Bennett. Her family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at McLauchlin-Clark Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church led by Reverend Jeffrey Weber. Eva will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
