James's Obituary

Jim’s life began on March 27, 1939 in Silver Creek Township, the son of Donald and Olive (Johnson) Servis. He is a 1957 graduate of Dowagiac Central High School. Jim served his country in the Michigan National Guard and Army Reserves. He was united in marriage to the former Elizabeth (Vizner) Price on June 1, 1984 in Dowagiac. Jim worked as produce manager for several area grocery stores including 24 years with Kroger, Plums in Benton Harbor and Peel’s in Niles. He worked for Harding’s Markets in Decatur and was currently working part time for Harding’s Markets in Cassopolis. Jim was a member of the VFW Post #1855, the Dowagiac Moose and the Dowagiac Eagles. He was an avid gun collector, loved motorcycles and especially enjoyed the peace and quiet going out to the creek and spending time with friends and family. His loving family includes his wife Betty Servis of Dowagiac, daughters Sue Servis of Bloomington, IN, Kathy Brown of Stevensville and Tammy Crawford of Dowagiac, his son James Servis of Dowagiac, six grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, sisters Alice “Peggy” Szymonski of Dowagiac, and Eva Yochim of Bradenton, FL, and 32 nieces and nephews. Jim passed away suddenly at his home on Tuesday May 26, 2009. He is preceded in death by a son Danny “Tiger” Price, brothers Gerald Mosier, Donald Mosier, and Jerry Mosier, sisters Isabelle White and Jane Callahan and nephew Dell Szymonski. His family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Friday at McLauchlin-Clark Funeral Home where his funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. led by Pastor Gerald Bushnell.
