James's Obituary
James’s life began on September 19, 1937 in St. James, Minnesota; the son of Elmer C and Minnie (Schwaub) Harnden. James graduated from Bell High School in Los Angeles county. He was united in marriage to Sharon Page on May 23, 1992. He worked at Carpenter Technology Steel Company in South Bend; IN. James belonged to the First United Methodist Church, Cass County Civitans and the Good Sam R.V. Organization. James enjoyed camping and fishing, he enjoyed tinkering with things. James served as chaplain for the Good Sam R.V. Organization. He loved the “Great outdoors” and walking at sunrise this was a time he enjoyed his walks with the Lord. He liked working with the Special Olympics. His greatest joy in life was his family which includes his wife Sharon, children Jeanette (Raymond) Strohecker of Vancouver, WA, David (Allison) Harnden of Lake Elsinore, CA, Michael (Jan) Harnden of Washougal, WA, Carol (Scott) Novak of Dowagiac, Russell (Loria) Page of Lawton, MI, Ronnie (Lisa) Jackson of Granger, IN; Pauline (Paul) Raffoul of Granger, IN; 13 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; sister Edna (Robert) VanOver of Hoffman, MN; brother Malcolm (Naomi) Harnden of Long Beach, CA. and a loving extended family. James passed away on Wednesday, March 25, at the University of Michigan Hospital. He is preceded in death by a son Elmer “Tike” Harnden Jr. and his parents Elmer and Minnie; sisters Yvonne VanOver and Lavonne Harnden. James’s family will receive friends on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. at McLauchlin-Clark Funeral Home and on Monday from 2-3 p.m. at the 1st United Methodist Church of Dowagiac where his funeral service will be led by Pastor John Kasper at 3 p.m. Memorials in James’s name may be directed to the 1st United Methodist Church, the Cass County Civitan Club, or the Michigan Good Sam Organization.
