Shelby's Obituary
Shelby’s life began on November 12, 1948 in Batesville, AR, the son of Hubert S. and Hattie P. (Richardson) Canard. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Shelby was united in marriage to the former Deanna Kling on May 25, 1975 in Dowagiac. He was a member of the American Legion Post #65 in Dowagiac.His family includes his children Amber Canard of Dowagiac, Misty (Richard) Swisher of Kalamazoo, Bruce Canard of Cassopolis and Jennifer Canard of Kentucky, 13 brothers and sisters and many nieces, and nephews. Shelby passed away on March 10, 2009 at Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital. He is preceded in death by his wife Deanna, son Paul Canard and brother Bobby Canard. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date and he will be interred with military honors at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
