Ruth Northrop

Ruth’s life began on December 10, 1945 in Monroe, MI, the daughter of Roy L. and Elva (Younger) Thornburg. She graduated from Marcellus High School. Ruth was united in marriage to Richard Northrop on July 28, 1973 at the Howardsville Chapel. She was a member of the Keeler Church of God and had been active in 4-H in her youth. Her greatest joy was her family which includes her husband Richard of Dowagiac, children Roy (Autumn) Northrop of Dowagiac and Laura (Robert) Wilson of Dowagiac, grandchildren Cole, Savannah, Seth and Harley Northrop and Eric, Adam and Ashley Wilson, sister Marion Irwin of Colorado and brothers Morris Thornburg of Marcellus and Glenn (Barb) Thornburg of Hastings. Ruth passed away March 30, 2009 at Lakeland Specialty Hospital in Berrien Center. She is preceded in death by sisters Grace Thornburg, Violet Peek, and Vivian Wessel. Ruth’s family will gather on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at McLauchlin-Clark Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at the Keeler Church of God (61789 CR 687), led by Pastors Boyd and Scott Saylor. She will be laid to rest in Mission Hills Cemetery, Niles.
