Gary Bookout

Gary Bookout, 69, of Benton Harbor, MI passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 10, 2017 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor Tom Bird officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Run Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Thursday, November 9, 2017 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Hanson Hospice Center. Those wishing to share a memory of Gary online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com  Gary was born November 11, 1947 in Benton Harbor, MI to Robert & Audrey (Bodtke) Bookout. He graduated from Lakeshore High School in 1966. He then served his country in the United States Army from 1967 until 1969. Gary worked as a painter for many years as well as owning a bar in Buchanan and a Hair Salon in Stevensville. He was a member of many pool and bowling leagues in the area. Gary loved being outdoors whether it was hunting or fishing or just sitting around a campfire with family. He also enjoyed collecting coins and vinyl records and was an avid Green Bay Packer Fan.  Gary is survived by his sons August (Becca) Bookout and Robert (Arie-Anne) Bookout; grandchildren, Tylier Bookout, Hayden Bookout, Audra Bookout, and Teegan Bookout; brother Greg (YoYo) Bookout; father Robert Bookout; one nephew and two nieces. Gary was preceded in death by his mother.
