Martha's Obituary
Martha Little Gossett, 75, of St. Joseph, MI passed away Wednesday, October 4th, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loving family, after a yearlong battle with cancer.
Arrangements entrusted to Starks and Menchinger Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI 49085. 269-556-9450. A private burial will take place at a later date. Martha was born September 11, 1942 in Taylorsville, NC to Robert and Ruth (Smith) Little. She graduated from Lenoir Rhyne University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. On June 21, 1972, she married the love of her life, Harry Gossett in Taylorsville, NC. She and Harry grew up in the beach communities of North Carolina where everyone danced the Shag, they were very good dancers. In the early years of their marriage, they moved to Dallas, TX where their two sons were born. Harry later accepted a position with Whirlpool Corporation and in 1989 they relocated to St. Joseph, making it their family’s home. Harry said, “Martha was the real deal, always uplifting and had something good to say about everyone.” She was a true and total friend. In her free time she enjoyed playing bridge and golf. Her biggest joy in life was being a mother and grandmother, devoting her life to her children, husband, and family. She was a very special lady who was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Martha is survived by her husband of forty-five years, Harry; step-daughter Star (Steve) Whittle, granddaughters Bryce and Ashton of Salt Lake City, UT; son Bob (Jaime) Gossett, grandsons Brady and Grant of Denver, CO; son Jim (Astra-fiancé) Gossett of Austin, TX. She was preceded by her parents and brother.
