Roulene Ruby Elliott

Roulene’s life began on November 11, 1936 in Dowagiac, the daughter of Leslie and Irene (Butler) Gordon. She was a 1954 graduate of Dowagiac Central High School. Roulene was united in marriage to William H. Elliott on June 28, 1952 in Bryan, OH. She had been employed by Dana Corporation for 16 years. Roulene was a member of the Dowagiac Fire Department Auxiliary. She was an avid reader, and loved to play computer games, especially spider solitaire. She loved nature, feeding the birds at Lake Michigan, frogs, and watching the deer and farm animals. Her greatest joy was her family which includes her children Victoria (Randall) Gross of Dowagiac, Carole (Mark) Clendenin of Benton, IL, Russell W. Elliott of Dowagiac, Jeannine Withorn of Dowagiac and Roger (Penny) Elliott of Dowagiac, grandchildren Randall Gross, Adam Elliott, Shawn Elliott, William Younger, Russell Elliott, Jr, Ryan Withorn, Jeffery Gross, Alexander Withorn, Gregory Younger, Matthew Gross, Michelle Elliott, Nicole Elliott, and Taylor Gross, seven great grandchildren, and sister Roberta (Eugene) Karnes of Dowagiac. Roulene passed away on August 13, 2009 at her home. She is preceded in death by her husband William in 2004, her parents, and grandson Jason Clendenin, two great grandchildren Morgan Clendenin and William H. Elliott, II, sister Virginia Keher, Bernice Checkley, Katherine Houston, Helen Cross, Carol Haley, and brothers Lawrence and Roger Gordon. Her family will receive friends on Monday from 11-1 p.m. at McLauchlin-Clark Funeral Home where her funeral service will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. led by Larry Brewer. She will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to Cass County Council on Aging.
