Horst G. Henschel

Horst G. Henschel, 80, of Stevensville, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at 11:00 A.M., at Washington Ave Church of God, 4051 Washington Ave., St. Joseph, with Pastor Andres Hannich officiating. Burial will follow at Lincoln Township Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, May 15, 2017, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Horst was born on March 17, 1937, to Gerhard & Anna (Jahn) Henschel in Germany. On September 5, 1959, Horst married Inge Schapper at Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Joseph. After 30 years of service, Horst retired in 1995 from Continental Can Company as a Lift Truck Driver. Horst loved to travel, especially to Florida every winter but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Horst is survived by his wife Inge of Stevensville; daughter Sonja Henschel of Stevensville, brother Gerhard (Anna Elizabeth) Henschel Jr. of Jacksonville, FL; Brother in-law Otto Schaper of St. Joseph; Nephews, Peter Henschel of Jacksonville, FL, Michael Henschel of Jacksonville, FL, Anthony Henschel of Jacksonville, FL, Jurgen Schaper of St. Joseph and Ralf Schaper of St. Joseph; and families Horst was preceded in death by his parents.
