Rana Joyce Melton, 73, of Stevensville, MI, passed away October 1, 2016 at her home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Scottdale United Methodist Church, 4271 Scottdale Rd., St. Joseph, MI with Rev. Terrill M. Schneider officiating. Rana will be laid to rest at Spring Run Cemetery in St. Joseph at 10 AM, Saturday, November 12. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of Southwest Michigan or Scottdale United Methodist Church. Rana Joyce Melton was born April 6, 1943 to William and Athaliah (Meade) Kamradt. Rana resided on Hollywood Rd in Stevensville, MI for most of her life. She was married on September 13, 1969 to Richard Smither for 10-12 years and then divorced. Rana then was married on July 19, 1992 to Larrie Melton and divorced several years later.
Rana worked at Lane Bryant in Indianapolis, Indiana for 2-3 years and then at Essex Wire in Berrien Springs, Michigan for 2-3 years.
Up until having a stroke, which left her disabled in 1996-1997, she worked as a school bus driver for Lake Michigan Catholic Schools, Bridgman Public Schools and Lakeshore Public Schools for 20 plus years.
Rana enjoyed traveling to Florida where she enjoyed feeding the alligators. She loved her three kitties Wheel Base, Blue Duck and Buggsy. She was a fan of Elvis and Princess Diana. Rana had a unique sense of humor and remained quite independent in spite of her disability. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by two nephews Don Hardwick of Oklahoma, Bill Hardwick of Puerto Rico and cousin Jerold (Sharon) Zerby of Berrien Springs. Rana is preceded in death by her parents, William (1891-1974) and Athaliah Kamradt (1901-1972); her first husband Richard Smither; and her sister, Ramona Hardwick on Dec 14, 2012.
