Emma Anna Heiden

Emma Anna Heiden, 105, of St. Joseph, passed away Monday, December 28, 2015 at The Willows in St. Joseph.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ, 3001 Veronica Dr., St. Joseph, with Rev. David Slater officiating. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph.  Memorial Donations may be made to Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ or Grace Hospice, 2725 Airview Blvd., Suite 101, Portage, MI 49009.  Those wishing to sign Emma’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.  Emma was born January 4, 1910 in Coloma, MI to Herman and Bertha (Jantz) Klug.  On May 12, 1934 in St. Joseph she married Edwin Heiden. Emma was a homemaker, while raising her two children she enjoyed baking and was an avid gardener. She was very involved in her church where she served on the Zion Ladies Guild. Emma was a Candy Striper at Memorial Hospital in St. Joseph and later in life enjoyed and was active in the Lincoln Senior Center. Emma’s smile, positive outlook on life and willingness to help others will always be remembered. Emma is survived by a daughter, Marcia (Leo) Klein of Conklin, MI; a son, Edwin (AJ Jaeger) Heiden, Jr. of St. Joseph; three grandchildren, Barbara (Scott) Higgins of Portage, MI; Stephanie Klein of Chicago, IL; Jeffrey Klein of Grand Rapids, MI; two great-grandchildren, Kristen Higgins and Brent Higgins both of Portage, MI; two brothers, Walt (Eleanor) Klug of Coloma, MI and Richard (Joyce) Klug of Eau Claire, MI and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and siblings, Arnold Klug, Delores Klug-Runge-Reagan, Hertha Klug-Freier-Andres, Elsie Klug-Bujack, Anne Klug-Myers-Falak, Edward Klug, Leonard Klug, Herbert Klug and Helen Klug-Russell.
