Elmer Robert Butler

Elmer R. Butler, 92, of Berrien Springs, MI passed away Monday, December 14, 2015 at the Chalet of Niles. A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held Thursday, December 17, 2015 from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd. St. Joseph. Burial of Elmer and his wife Dorothy will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. On August 9, 1952 he wed Dorothy Sparks in Saginaw, MI. Elmer worked as a Janitor at General Motors from 1968 until his retirement in 1986. He enjoyed taking walks, picking up cans and especially playing Bingo. He is survived by his daughters Lynda Greenier of Flint and Lori Leng of Berrien Springs; grandchildren Robert Johnson, Nathan Johnson, Bridgette Burns, David (Sheila) Butler and Grant Leng; numerous great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Dorothy on November 9, 2006; brothers Alvin Butler, Byron Butler, Ray Butler and Emery Butler; sisters Edith Butler, Beatrice Demate and Edna Davidson.
