Bennett Leo Schaub, 77, of St. Joseph, passed away, Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Pine Ridge Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Stevensville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1:30 P.M. Friday, January 2, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church St., St. Joseph, with Fr. James Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may visit Friday from 11:30 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. with the Rosary recited at 12:30 P.M. at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Ben was born August 6, 1937 in Belleville, Michigan to Leo & Genevieve (Denoyer) Schaub. He graduated from Suttons Bay High School in 1956. Ben served several years in the United States Air Force and following Honorable Discharge earned an Associate’s Degree from Lake Michigan College. Ben’s work career was in the Tool & Die industry. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joseph, the Stevensville American Legion, and the American Pool Players Association. Ben cherished the time he spent with his family, enjoyed playing pool, music, dancing, playing cards, hunting, fishing, and tending to his vegetable & flower gardens. But most of all, he enjoyed a good joke and making people smile.
Ben is survived by his children-David Schaub of St. Joseph, Carolyn (Robert) Krueger of Bridgman, Patrick Schaub of New York, Michael (Amy) Schaub of Stevensville, Jennifer Sullivan of St. Joseph; five grandchildren-David, Danielle, Sydney, Andrea, Michaela; five great-grandchildren-Gavin, Jared, Amelie, Ella & Bradlee; five brothers-Urban (Erica) Schaub & Daniel (Beverly) Schaub, both of Muskegon, Michael (Dorothy) Schaub, Lonnie Schaub & Melvin (Mary) Schaub all of the Traverse City area; three sisters-Sister Geneva Marie Schaub of Grand Rapids, Geneva (Jerry) Lamie of Traverse City area, Doreen (Robert) Stone of West Branch, MI; sister-in-law Fran Schaub of Muskegon; and numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Earl Schaub, and his long-time companion-Darlene Tefs.
