Phyllis E. Adams, 84, of St. Joseph died Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at Golden Age Manor, in Stevensville, Mich. A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 14, 2005, at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Nancy Hues officiating. Burial will follow in North Shore Memory Gardens. Friends may call on the family from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M., Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice At Home. A graduate of Benton Harbor High School, Phyllis was employed as a bookkeeper at Modern Plastics Corporation for many years. She married Leonard Adams on February 24, 1945 at Peace Temple Methodist Church in Benton Harbor. Until her health failed Phyllis was active in bowling, Eastern Star, and with The Bible Study Fellowship group. She also enjoyed traveling and dancing. Survivors include her loyal husband of 60 years, Leonard Adams, who spent many hours with Phyllis at the Golden Age Home the past 5-1/2 years. Her sister Beverly Grande Phillips of Gainesville, Fla., cousins ? Mary McLeod of Gainesville, Fla., Richard (Barbara) Grande of Benton Harbor, Mich., Joyce (Herbert) Gould Clements of Parrish, Fla., Paula (David) Clements Howley of Coloma, Mich., and David Clements of Parish, Fla., plus close friends Donna (Robert) Russ, Betty (Richard) Adams, and Robert ?Skip? (Gloria) Swedenburg. She is preceded in death by her parents Letha and Joseph Grande, grandparents Orr and Hattie Gould, grandparents Rose and Thomas Grande, and cousin Gloria Young.
