Everett John Creager, 68, of St. Joseph, passed away Tuesday evening, August 8, 2006, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 12, with Fr. Christian Johnston officiating at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church St., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Friday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M., with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 P.M., at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Everett was born May 4, 1938 in Detroit. He was the son of Harry & Dorothy Creager. On October 3, 1964 he married Elaine Smith at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Together they had two children, Catherine and John Michael. Everett was a longtime active member of the St. Joseph parish of the Knights of Columbus. He was also very active in the church and sang in the church choir. He was an avid reader particularly on historical issues and loved to travel. Everett was an accomplished builder of model cars and railroads and was a lifetime member of the National Navel Institute. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and particularly with his children and grandchildren.
Everett is survived by his wife Elaine of nearly 42 years; his children, Catherine (Michael) Hancock of Hamilton, MI and John Michael Creager of Louisiana; his granddaughters, Autumn Marie and Ivy Elizabeth Hancock; and by his four brothers, Harry of St. Joseph, Michael of Mattawan, Nicholas of St. Joseph, and Patrick Creager of Ada, MI.
Everett was preceded in death by his parents.
