Uncle Ed was born March 27, 1910 in Poland to Robert and Emilie Streick. He and his family immigrated to Benton Harbor when he was a child. His formal education was completed at Bard School in Benton Harbor. He continued educating himself throughout his life. He was proud of honoring his country by serving in the Army during World War II. He especially liked to reminisce about playing his trumpet in the Army Band during the World?s Fair in Chicago in 1936.
His education was evident in his success working and eventually retiring from Studebaker in South Bend, Indiana as a tool and die maker. He married his childhood sweetheart, Grace Geisler of Benton Harbor. They shared 54 years of marriage. Together they built two different homes in the Niles area, they were active in the Apostolic church, and were successful farmers. In their retirement years they moved to Venice, Florida, where they spent many years enjoying the sunshine. For the past five years he lived at the Golden Age Manor in St. Joseph.
Uncle Ed is survived by one brother, Leo Streick of Lafayette, California; six nieces ? Gloria Emde of Benton Harbor, Georgia Ellis of Grand Blanc, Joyce (Augie) Zacha of St. Joseph, Debby, Cindy and Beverly all of California; one nephew, Daniel (Sally) Streick of Benton Harbor; many great nieces and nephews including Rhonda (Bill) Howell, Jerry (Diane) Emde, Robyn Emde and Chad Ellis. He is also survived by his special care-givers at the Golden Age Manor.
Uncle Ed was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Grace; one sister Thelma Geisler; one brother Joseph Streick; and one nephew Jerry R. Emde.
