Mildred's Obituary

Mildred M. Karpanty, 89, of Watervliet, passed away Friday, June 6, 2003 at Lakeland Hospital-St. Joseph. Services will be held on Monday in Toledo, Ohio, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Toledo. Friends may call on Sunday from 5-7 P.M. at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Liturgical Prayers will be recited at 6:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Karpanty was born on September 7, 1913 in Toledo, OH to Walter & Sophie (Kaminski) Wielinski. On August 20, 1934, she married Chester Karpanty in Toledo. Mildred was an LPN at the Toledo Clinic for 23 years before her retirement in 1973. Chet & Mildred moved to the Coloma-Watervliet area from Toledo in 1974. Mildred was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Watervliet, the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, and the Curtis Club. Mrs. Karpanty is survived by her son Ron (Joanie) Karpanty of Benton Harbor; four grandchildren-Kimberly Karpanty, Kristin (Jeff) Walters, Ron (Kelly) Karpanty, Rachel (Mike) Karpanty-Yantis; and four great-grandchildren-Emily & Abigail Walters, and Maxwell & Owen Karpanty. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband on May 6, 1999 and a brother-Walter Wielinski.
