Elizabeth A. “Betty” Spletzer, 76, of Benton Harbor, went to meet her Lord and Savior, Saturday, March 13, 2004, at Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 2673 W. John Beers Road, Stevensville. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. Mrs. Spletzer was born Dec. 29, 1927, in Benton Harbor, to Julius and Lydia (Reinhardt) Kasischke. She was employed as a secretary for many years for Attorney A.G. Preston Jr. in Stevensville. Betty was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She loved to read, do puzzles and make hooked rugs. Betty is survived by her daughter, Paula (Doug) Nass of Racine, Wis.; her son, Mark (Anne) Spletzer of Edgewater, Fla.; a granddaughter, Rachael Nass; two brothers — Don (Shirley) Kasischke of Stevensville and Harold (Kathy) Kasischke of St. Joseph; and her long time friend and caregiver with whom she made her home, Marlene Kautz. She was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant brother, Robert Kasischke.
