Joyce A. Miskill

Joyce Miskill, 75, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2004 at her home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at St. Paul?s Episcopal Church, 914 Lane Dr., St. Joseph with Fr. Jason A. Fout officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Wednesday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to St. Paul?s Episcopal Church or Hospice at Home. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Mrs. Miskill was born March 31, 1929 in Benton Harbor to Ray & Amy (Olson) Helm. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1947. On August 18, 1951, she married Robert Miskill in St. Joseph. Joyce was an active member of St. Paul?s Episcopal Church. She was a member and had served as treasurer of St. Catherine?s Guild at the church, and was a member & past-president of St. Paul?s Flower Guild. Joyce was a member of Krasl Art Center, The Economic Club, Monday Musical, and volunteered at the former Mercy & Mercy-Memorial Hospitals where she was active in the Candy Striper Program. She was a member of the Fairplain Garden Club when she lived in Fairplain. Joyce enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing bridge, and most of all, spending time with her family. Joyce is survived by her husband Robert; two sons-Michael (Debby (Ziemke)) Miskill of St. Joseph; Jeffrey Miskill of Benton Harbor; five grandchildren-Carlee Maddox, Lauren Maddox, Trina (Brian) Lawrence, Matthew Gilbert, Bobby Miskill; one great-granddaughter Hailey Lawrence; two sisters-Florence Jones of Abilene, TX; Mary (Stanley) Hays of St. Joseph; and a sister-in-law-Jean (Louis) Wood of Leland, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters-Ruth Gardner, Jean Reeves, Jesse Noble; and a brother Jim Helm.
