Dolores's Obituary

Dolores (McManus) Meyer, 91, of Bridgman, formerly of Stevensville, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 25, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church St., St. Joseph. Private burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Stevensville. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 4:30 P.M. Sunday, March 24, with Liturgical Prayers recited at 4:15 P.M., at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorial donations in Dolores’ name may be made to the Catholic Community Center or the Logan Learning Center. Those wishing to sign Dolores’ Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Dolores was born August 1, 1927 in Toledo, Ohio to Frank & Marguerite (Baude) McManus. She graduated from Mary Manse College with a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry. Upon graduation she worked as a medical technician at Toledo Hospital. On May 3, 1952 she married Bernard Meyer in Maumee, Ohio. They were blessed with three daughters-Kathleen (Bill) Hanley of St. Joseph, Debbie (Charlie) Thomas of Winter Park, FL, Judy (Ken) Miedema of Stevensville; seven grandchildren-Brian (Lisa So) Hanley, Cait (Dale) Rominski, Kevin Hanley, Megan (Dean) Metropulos, Michael Thomas, Lauren Miedema & Greg Miedema; four great-grandchildren-Lucy & Alice Hanley, Billy Rominski & Tommy Metropulos; two sisters-Ann Alexander & Patricia Nesbit; a sister-in-law Ann Cecilia McManus; and numerous nieces & nephews. Dolores & Bernie were active in volunteer activities with Birthright and the Catholic Community Center. She enjoyed gardening, tending her grapes, canning & cooking. Dolores’ claim to fame though was her baking, especially her pies. Dolores was preceded in death by her husband Bernard, on October 18, 2007 after fifty-five years of marriage, two sisters-Marguerite (William) Landis, Mary Frances (Dale) Brigode, brother Frank McManus, and her brother-in-law Robert Nesbit.
