Frederick's Obituary
Fred Marutz, 98, of Stevensville, went to Heaven in the early morning hours of Saturday, March 16, 2019.
Fred was born on November 24, 1920. Fred served in the United States Marine Corps with the rank of Sargent in WWII from January 3, 1942, until January 15, 1946. He also served on the USS Weeden for 17 months in Korea. He was in the Naval Reserves from November of 1951 to February of 1958.
Fred married the love of his life and soul mate Carolyn in Stevensville and they were together for 56 years until his passing.
Fred retired from Clark Equipment and spent his retirement years with Carol on their property in Stevensville gardening and watching the deer and other wildlife off their back deck.
Fred loved his country he fought for. He was a firm believer in the Constitution of the United States and the freedoms we have. Fred was not afraid to express his opinions of how things in our world are going. He was a true believer in the 2nd amendment and the Bill of Rights. Fred was a true patriot.
Very little is known about Fred’s family. Oscar and Pat moved next to Fred and Carol 45 years ago. Fred and Carol soon became like a second mother and father to Oscar and Pat’s children and were great neighbors. Fred became part of their family, watching their kids and grandkids grow. Never once complaining about the noise the children made. The entire family loved him and will never forget what a great man he was.
Mr. Marutz was a mountain of a man, a hardworking, no nonsense man. Fred taught the children to shoot and hunt safely and things about the history of our country and about the wars that he was in.
Fred was a real man, a man that all young men should strive to be like and will truly be missed by those that truly knew Fred Marutz.
A private graveside ceremony was Fred’s wishes.
