Bonnie Ann Kurbis

Bonnie Ann Kurbis, 89, of Stevensville, MI, passed away on Sunday – April 21, 2019 at Spectrum-Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph, MI. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home – 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. Bonnie was born on Aug. 9, 1929 in St. Joseph, MI to the late Richard and Bertha (Zordell) Marutz. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1947. On June 17, 1950 in St. Joseph, she married Melvin Edgar Kurbis, Sr; he preceded her in death on Aug. 30, 2009. Bonnie worked at Whirlpool for app. 28 years, retiring in 1992. She and her late husband were antique dealers in SW Michigan and NW Indiana for many years. Bonnie was a wonderful mother and wife and will be greatly missed. Bonnie is survived by sons – Richard (Kathy) Kurbis of Berrien Springs, Duffy Kurbis of Orlando, FL and Jay Kurbis of Wheeler, IN; daughters – Linda Salverson of Stevensville and Pamela Moore of Dallas, TX; and grandchildren – Jamie Kurbis, Jeremy Kurbis, Melissa Moore, Kristine Moore and Alexis Kurbis. She is also preceded in death by her son – Melvin, Jr., and brothers – Herbert, George and Frederick Marutz. A Celebration of Life service will take place on Friday, April 26, 11:00am, at Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Stevensville. Visitation with the family is on Thurs., April 25, from 5:00-7:00pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Berrien County Cancer Service.
