Scott Ray Ross, 53, of St. Joseph, MI passed away at Spectrum Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph on Sunday – May 19, 2019, after a hard fought battle with brain cancer. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services – 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI.
Scott was born in St. Joseph, MI on April 15, 1966 to Gerhardt and Diane (Stibbins) Ross. He was a 1984 graduate of Michigan Lutheran High School; and furthered his education at the University of Michigan receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering; followed by his MBA at Western Michigan University. Scott was director of sales at Great Lakes Metal Stamping in Bridgman, MI. He was an avid University of Michigan and New York Yankees sports fan. At one time he was the youngest Charter Captain on Lake Michigan. Scott was also a member of the Berrien County Marine Division. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, morel mushroom hunting and spending time with his family - especially his children’s many sporting events.
Scott is survived by his loving wife Karen (Jewell) of 30 years; his children – Steven Ross of Detroit, MI and Katie Ross of St. Joseph; his parents – Gerhardt “Gay” and Diane Ross of St. Joseph; father and mother in law – Forrest “Nick” and Arlice Jewell; brother-in-law Ken (Cyndi Kraklau) Jewell; niece and nephew Jessi and Nick Jewell and their mother Myra Jewell; aunt Edna Volkers; many uncles, aunts and cousins; as well as his “canine fur babies” Lacey and Emma. Preceding Scott in death are his maternal grandparents – Ray and Anne Stibbins; and his paternal grandparents – Otto and Hulda Ross.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday – May 24, 11:00 am, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church – 4333 Cleveland Ave., St. Joseph, with Pastor Martin Measel officiating. Visitation with the family is on Thursday – May 23 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Starks & Menchinger Chapel. The family invites you to wear your Michigan Wolverine or Maize and Blue sports apparel to this time of visitation.
