Frieda's Obituary

Frieda Mueller, 91, of Stevensville, went to meet her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, Sunday, February 16, 2020 at her home. A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, February 22 at Washington Ave. Church of God, 4051 Washington Ave., St. Joseph with Rev. Andy Hannich officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery, Stevensville. Friends may visit from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Washington Ave. Church of God. Those wishing to sign Frieda’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Frieda was born January 27, 1929 in Gelsenkirchen-Horst, Germany to Ferdinand & Anna (Schweichel) Lenk . On February 4, 1950, she married Helmut Mueller in Essen, Germany. In 1951 the family moved to the United States settling in Benton Harbor. In 1964, Helmut opened Lakeshore Wood Craft in Stevensville, where Frieda served as the treasurer and bookkeeper and in many other capacities, until her retirement in 1991. Frieda was a woman of God, devoting her life to Washington Ave. Church of God where she helped with the construction, played the organ, sang in the choir, directed the children’s music program, volunteered for Vacation Bible School, and played several instruments. Frieda and Helmut enjoyed traveling the United States and abroad, and enjoyed winters in Northport, Florida. Frieda enjoyed hosting her family & many friends, cooking, baking, music and tending to her flower gardens around the house. Frieda is survived by her son Gilbert (Linda) Mueller of St. Joseph; her daughter Karin (Floyd) Yoder of Venice, FL; her daughter-in-law Karen Mueller of Highland, CA; four grandchildren-Steven (Kristi) Mueller, Susan (Dustin) White, Anita (Joseph) Loomis, & Christopher Mueller; two great-grandchildren-Samantha Morris & Joshua Mueller; her sister Helga Arndt of Fredericksburg, VA; her brother Fritz (Renate) Lenk of Alberta, Edmonton; and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Helmut on May 4, 2013, her son Hartwig Mueller on March 16, 2012, two sons-in-law-Rene Mueller & Rodney Moore, and siblings-Manfred Lenk, Gertrude Tatzmann & Elsbeth Helling.
