Madalyn's Obituary

Madalyn J. (Sweet) Pagels was called to her heavenly home on Tuesday, February 18, 2020. A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Monday, February 24, 2020, at 11 A.M. at Twelve Corners Community Church, 3902 Hicks Ave., Benton Harbor, with Pastor Richard Sing officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, February 23, from 2 P.M. until 5 P.M. at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorial contributions may be made to Twelve Corners Community Church or Humane Society of Southwest Michigan. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Madalyn was born on June 22, 1941 in Benton Harbor to Aldrich and Elsie (Bahm) Skibbe. Madalyn grew up on a farm in Millburg and began her working career away from the farm at Producers Creamery followed by Whirlpool, Clark Equipment and AEP. Madalyn had a love for life and enjoyed the farm, traveling, shopping, eating out and most of all, her family. Surviving are her husband of 39 years, Carl; son, Dean Sweet; grandsons, Scott (Jessica) Thomas and Adam (Shannon) Thomas; great-grandchildren, Cooper, Piper and Hudson; brother, Ross (Deb) Skibbe; niece, Sarah (Joe) Brookshire and her children, Josephine and Sullivan; nephew, Dustin (Brittney) Skibbe and his children, Westin and Aubree. Madalyn was preceded in death by her parents, Aldrich and Elsie Skibbe; sister, Nancy Skibbe; and daughter, Amanda Sweet-Thomas.
