Mende DeVinney

Mende's Obituary

Mende Merten DeVinney, 37, of South Haven, died of natural causes on September 27, 2012 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was born November 6, 1974 to Dennis and Idy (Merten) DeVinney in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She was a 1993 South Haven High School graduate and received an Associates Degree of Science from Grand Valley Community College and was a State Certified Esthetician. Mende was an independent contractor for FEMA and had been doing home inspections for flood victims in Louisiana. She had recently been working at Hawkshead Restaurant in South Haven. She made jewelry from vintage pieces, sold various items on Ebay and Craig’s List, and was a partner in Idy’s Sales. Mende loved people and had a passion for her work helping victims of natural disasters. We rejoice she is with the Lord; she will be missed.

Mende is survived by her parents, her brother – Jason (Laura) DeVinney of Boca Raton, Florida, and nephew – Jonah DeVinney and 14 aunts & uncles, and 30 first cousins.

Visitation will be Friday, October 19th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Memorial Services will be Saturday, October 20th at 12:00 noon at Hope Reformed Church of South Haven with The Rev. Andrew Gross of Holy Trinity Anglican Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Schools for Salone or Missionary Sisters of the Holy Rosary in Mende’s memory.
