Jay's Obituary
Jay Joseph Cowell, 57, of Vicksburg, MI formally from South Haven died on Friday, September 14, 2012. He was born on January 19, 1955 to Donald and Helen (LaMaire) Cowell in Kalamazoo, MI. Jay was a 1973 graduate of South Haven High School. Jay worked his entire life for International Labor Union Local #355 of Battle Creek. Jay enjoyed the out of doors especially hunting and fishing.
He is preceded in death by his father Donald Cowell who died in 2002.
He is survived by his mother – Helen Cowell of Vicksburg, MI, his children – Jinny (Terry) Balliet of South Haven, MI, Michael (Tina) Cowell of South Haven, MI, Joseph (Rosa) Fitts of Holland, MI and Jeri (Omar) Rodriguez of Hamilton, MI. Zachary Fitts and Samantha Fitts of Holland, MI. His brothers – Steven (Sue) Cowell of Paw Paw, MI, Curt (Belinda) Cowell and Rodney Cowell of South Haven, MI, Tim (Tristan) Cowell of Pullman, MI, and one sister – Shelley (Jeff) Lott of Clarksville, MI. Eight grand children and on great grandson. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be on Thursday, September 20, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Mark D. Gieschen officiating. Burial will follow the services in Chambers Cemetery, Geneva Township. Friends wishing to make a memorial contribution can do so to the Stepping Stones.
