Dorothy "Polly" Zordel

Dorothy “Polly” Zordel, 85, died on Thursday, September 13, 2012 in South Haven. She was born on June 7, 1927 to Alex and Dorothy (Schroeder) Bohle in Morristown, New Jersey. Polly lived in Michigan City, Indiana for 2 years moved to Coloma, MI in 1935. She graduated in 1949 from Watervliet High School. She worked at the Watervliet Paper Mill before coming to South Haven in 1950. Polly began working at the Gown Shop in South Haven for Dottie Lundy. She purchased the Gown Shop in 1959 and renamed the store Polly’s Boutique; which she owned and operated for 43 years. She married Donald Zordel on December 10, 1955. Polly was first runner up in Miss South Haven Queen Contest in 1950 and 1st to be crowned Miss Blueberry of South Haven in 1950.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband – Donald Zordel, one brother – William Bohle and one sister – Dorothy Vollrath.
Polly is survived by daughter – Michelle (Joe) Aleman, her son – Michael (Christina) Zordel, her sister - Eleanore Forsythe, sister-in-laws – Mary Campbell and Marlene Bohle. Grandchildren – Michael and Christopher Aleman, Amber (Brad) Larson, Amanda (Clyde) Linker, Jayme (Miranda) Bowles, Matthew Bowles, and Caitlin Bowles. Great-grand children – Nikoli, Arianna, Alexis and Steven
Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 18 from 5-7pm at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home.
Funeral will be Wednesday, September 19 at 11 A.M. at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Linstrom officiating. Burial will take place at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Memorial Gardens.
