Estella's Obituary
Estella Jordan-Dwyer was born in Blythe, Georgia on September 8, 1938 to Essie Mae (Smiley) Jordan and Thomas Jordan. She moved to South Haven with her Father and her older sister Ernestine in the early fifties. She lived in South Haven the majority of her life, where she made many friends, until her transition.
Estella worked at South Haven Rubber Company for over 35 years, until her retirement. She was a member of Greater Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ for 40 years, under the leadership of Bishop Fred L. Cunningham. She fulfilled many duties as a faithful member, and helped to complete the ministry. She purchased the first piano from Grinnell Brother’s for her church and served as Pastor’s Aide President. She also served on the Mother’s Board, as she loved and was supportive of her Pastor and church.
Being the caring and loving person she was, Estella took in many people, both children and Adults. She was a foster parent and surrogate to her nieces and nephews. Beautiful flowers, especially roses, enhanced her life; she loved sitting outside on the picnic table with friends and family, sharing the good times.
She leaves to mourn: Her supportive, loving daughter JoAnn Flowers of South Haven; Three Sisters: Hazel Cloud of Kalamazoo, Mabel Jordan of Atlanta, GA, Alice (Thomas) Primus of Nashville, Tennessee; Two Brothers: Albert (Angela) Jordan-Bibbs of Matteson, Illinois, Thomas Jordan of Kalamazoo; Sisters-in-law: Annie Jordan of Miami, Florida, Diane Robinson of Benton Harbor; Four special nieces and nephews; Carolyn, Albert Jr., Cordello, Diana Jordan. A host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by: Her father and mother, two sisters: Ernestine Snipes, Doris Wells; three brothers: Clinton Jordan, Theodore Lee, and Johnnie Bibbs. Estella will always be remembered and cherished in our hearts.
