Mildred's Obituary
Mildred Kasichke Konrath was born July 8, 1923 at the family farm located in South Haven, MI to parents William and Albertina Kasichke, who preceded her in death. Mildred graduated from South Haven High School in 1940 and Mahers Business College in 1941. Mildred married the love of her life, Joe Konrath, on June 3, 1944, and they enjoyed 64 years of marriage together. Mildred worked for the US Department of Agriculture, the YMCA and Lake Shore Studio. She belonged to Thursday Club and Sunshine Pals Extension Club, and also spent time as a Girl Scout Leader.
She enjoyed traveling with Joe, especially the white water rafting trip they took down the Colorado River as well as their many trips overseas. Her favorite things were family, friends, baking (especially wedding cakes), and growing roses with Joe. She had a great passion for gardening and in her younger years took pride in growing an enormous rose garden and vegetable garden. She arranged flower bouquets and gave them away to others for birthdays, anniversaries and other occasions. Mildred was known and loved for her thoughtfulness, generosity, and her compassion for others.
She is survived by daughters Jean Warden of Brighton, MI and Jill (Mike) Wilke of Anaheim, CA sister Pauline Asche of South Haven, MI sister-in-law Rose Gordon of South Haven, MI grandchildren Chad (Michelle) Warden of Howell, MI Karla Knapp of San Jose, CA Kristin (Matt) Rogers of Chardon, OH, and Kali Knapp of Irvine, CA. She was preceded in death by husband Joe, son-in-law Dan Warden, and brother Dave Kasichke.
For sixty years, Mildred belonged to the First Congregational Church of St. Joseph, MI Mildred enjoyed teaching Sunday School for 25 years at the church.
Services will be held at the First Congregational Church of St. Joseph, 2001 Niles Ave., on Friday, April 13, 2012 at 4:00 PM with Rev. Dr. Robert Braman and Rev. Harold Filbrandt officiating.
