Harold Johnson

Harold Andrew Johnson, 78, of Grand Junction died on March 15, 2012 at home. He was born on February 24, 1934 to Harold and Emeline (Hageman) Johnson. Harold married Alyce on June 6, 1953 a the St. Paul Episcopal Church in Elk Rapids, Michigan. Harold served his country in the Army and Navy for over 23 years. Harold retired as a Chief Petty Officer from the Navy. Harold and Alyce owned and operated the Harold A. Johnson Insurance Agency for many years in Coloma and Paw Paw. He served as a VanBuren County Commissioner during the years of 2005 and 2006. Harold enjoyed music and was a member of the South Haven’s men’s Chorus. He was also a member of the Congregational Church of Grand Junction. Harold will be remembered as being a very giving person.

He is preceded in death by his parents

He is survived by his wife – Alyce Johnson of Grand Junction. His children – Harold (Karen) Johnson Jr., of Lawrence, MI, Kathy (Terrie) Sands of Killeen, TX, Sheri (Gregory) Kuzma of Hartford, MI, and 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. His sister – Mary Ellen Burke and one niece – Cora Burke both of Orange County, CA.

Visitation will be on Monday, March 19, from 4 to 6:30 PM at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 6:30 at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Fisher officiating. Burial will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 1251 Fulton St. E., Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
