Eddie Lee "Poochie"'s Obituary
Eddie Lee Wright (Poochie) was born May 7, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois, to the parents of Joseph and Minnie Tyler. She was reared in the home of her uncle and aunt, Joseph and Eddie Lee Stampley. In 1953 she met George Rudolph Wright Sr.. They later married in 1955 and moved to Covert, Michigan where they became longtime residents of the Covert community. Ms. Poochie, as she is so well known, was a homemaker and self-taught beautician mastering the skill of the marcel curling irons. Her customers often referred to her work as the “Ms. Poochie curl”. In 1993 she became employed as a caregiver at Covert Childcare Center until she retired in 2006.
Ms. Poochie took her eternal journey peacefully early Wednesday, December 7, 2011. God blessed her with favor and long life allowing her to see four generations of off spring from her immediate family; and for this we are thankful.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Minnie Tyler, Joseph and Eddie Lee Stampley (Momma sister), her siblings, Helen Tyler, Betty Middleton, Ann Hawkins, Louise Hobson, Harold Tyler, Robert Tyler, and Junior Tyler.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, George Wright Sr., her children, Jose Tyler, Shirley Laws, Yvonne Laws, Michael (Sandra) Laws, Phillip (Jackie) Laws, Debra Wright, Diane Wright-Chillers, George (Renee) Wright Jr., Cynthia (Amarjit) Singh, Laverne (W.C.) Askew, Curtiss (Betsy) Wright, Betty (Tony) Mosely, Jerry Wright, two sisters, Inez Tyler of Chicago, Illinois, Shirley Bass of California, Raymond Tyler of Chicagol, Illinois, special niece Inez Ivory of Kalamazoo, Michigan a special daughter, Dorsetta Hancock of Grand Rapids, MI., close friends, Addie Clark of Covert, Michigan, Bertha Bracken of Ghana, Africa, 27 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A visitation will be held Sunday, December 11, 2011 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday, December 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Evangelistic World Outreach Ministry located at the corner of 68th St and 8 Ave. Burial will be at Covert Cemetery.
