Ruth Pauline's Obituary
Ruth Pauline Bodfish, 97, of South Haven died Friday, September 30 at Kairos Dwelling in Kalamazoo.
She was born January 29, 1914 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Joseph E. and Pearl (Pike) Patnoude. Ruth served her country in the U.S. Army during World War II as a nurse in the Philippines. Ruth Married Raymond Bodfish on January 3, 1947 in South Haven, Michigan at the Liberty Hyde Bailey Museum. She graduated from Nazareth School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. She also worked for South Haven Community Hospital for many years retiring in 1975. Ruth enjoyed gardening, quilting, crocheting and bird watching.
She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband – Raymond Bodfish who died in 1978. Eight siblings – Justice Patnoude, Helen MacCleay, Pearl Benson, Leo Patnoude, Preston Patnoude, Don Patnoude, Bob Patnoude and Raymond Patnoude.
She is survived by one son – David (Ann) Bodfish of South Portland, Maine and one daughter – Barbara (Juan) Gracia of Pullman, Michigan. Four grandchildren – Jennifer R. (Mike) Audet of Biddeford, Maine, Rebecca R. Bodfish of Cambridge, Massachusetts, Edward Hodge of Dorr, Michigan and Joseph Hodge of Bangor, Michigan. Seven great grandchildren. Two sisters – Mary (Larry) Flegal of Plainwell, Michigan and June (Jim) Daugherty of Brooklyn, Michigan also survive.
Visitation will be Monday, October 3rd from 12 – 2 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin on Monday at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
