Paul Lawrence's Obituary
Paul Lawrence Harbin Jr., 71, of Covert, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids.
He was born April 24, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois to Paul and Queen Pace (Davis) Harbin Sr. He moved to Covert with his family where he attended Bangor Public Schools, played football and was an All-American Athlete. He served his country in the U.S. Army for 3 years. Paul began working for the Michigan Department of Transportation in 1973 where he eventually became foreman. He retired 24 years later in 1997 and opened PA Lou’s Snack Shop where he served the best ribs in the area.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul Harbin Sr. and Queen Pace Davis, wives, Louise Harbin and Arlene Harbin.
He is survived by his step-father – Fred (Sally) Davis of Cassopolis, ex-wife – Virgie Page of Covert, his daughter – Denise (Kenneth) Childs of Chicago, son – Paul (Gwen) Harbin Jr. of Kentwood and son – Keith Harbin of Michigan. Paul had many friends and was particularly close with his cousins – David Woody of Covert and Berniece Cherry of Holland.
Visitation will be Friday, September 23 from 6 - 8 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Dureya Gibson officiating.
