Philip Clark

Philip Floyd Clark, 89, of South Haven died Thursday, August 18, 2011 at his residence. He was born December 15, 1921 to Joseph B. and Eva Violet (Covert) Clark in Lake, Michigan. Phil served in the U.S. Navy during World War II where he was trained in torpedo school. He married his first wife Audrey Bloss in July 3, 1940, who preceded him in death. He enjoyed fishing, camping, playing euchre, playing cribbage and traveling. Phil had a favorite lure he used called a Budweiser. On March 5, 1994 he married Shirlee Tromotola. He enjoyed going to Arizona in the winter months where he would tend to his grapefruit tree. Phil loved spending time with his family.

He is preceded death along with his parents, by his first wife Audrey who died in 1992, one daughter Sondra K. Gruber, three sisters, and an infant brother.

He is survived by his wife Shirlee Clark of South Haven, Michigan, a combined family of children – Phyllis
(Jack) Flint of Davison, Michigan, Patricia Clark of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Richard (Monica) Clark of South Haven, Michigan, Paige (Bruce) Southworth, of Bangor, Michigan, Rick (Cheryl) Tromotola of South Haven, Michigan, Jon Tromotola of South Haven, Michigan and Scott Tromotola of South Haven, Michigan, !6 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, one sister – Blanche Comstock of Farwell, Michigan, and a son-in-law Jerry (Ann) Gruber of South Haven, Michigan.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 23, 2011 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the First Congregational Church UCC. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Jeffrey S. Dick officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Cemetery in Flint, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice or the First Congregational Church.
