John's Obituary
John Arthur Schnake, 93, of South Haven departed life on Sunday, August 14 at Restlawn Care Center in Holland.
He was born October 6, 1917 in Chicago, Illinois to John and Clara (Hanke) Schnake. John came to South Haven at the age of 4 and graduated from South Haven High School. John worked for National Motors Foundry in South Haven for 34 years and farmed with his son Robert. He married Martha K. Haase on November 21, 1942. John was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
He is preceded in death along with his parents by 2 sons – Arthur J. and Richard M. Schnake and his brother – James Schnake.
He is survived by his wife – Martha K. Schnake of South Haven, Michigan. Three sons – Steven (Teresa) Schnake of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Robert (Alice) Schnake of South Haven, Michigan, and John W. Schnake of Holland, Michigan. Four grandchildren and two great grandsons.
