Emma Jean's Obituary
Emma Jean Hoag, 86, of South Haven died Monday, August 1 at Countryside Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in South Haven.
She was born August 18, 1924 in South Haven, Michigan to Harvey and Beulah (Hildreth) Nance. Emma Jean graduated from South Haven High School in 1942. She married Floyd Hoag on April 1, 1944 . Emma Jean worked at the South Haven Daily Tribune for several years where she wrote the society page. Emma Jean was a member of the First Congregational Church UCC in South Haven where she served as the church secretary for many years.
She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband – Floyd Hoag who died in 1989. Her brother – William Nance also precedes her.
She is survived by her children – Randall ( Nancy ) Hoag of Franklin, Tennessee, Nancy (James) VanDerZee of Charlevoix, Michigan and Cathy (Richard) Siler of Indianapolis, Indiana. Seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Brother and Sisters in law - Clyde (Joanne) Hoag, Gordon Hoag, and Terry (Dorothy) McNeil , Doris Nance also survived.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, August 3 at 2:00 P.M.at Lakeview Cemetery with Rev. Jeffrey S. Dick officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the First Congregational Church. Kindly share your thoughts and memories on the family’s online guest book at www.FilbrandtFFH.com.
