Richard's Obituary

Richard O. Johnson, born in South Haven on May 14, 1914, died in Conyers, Georgia on July 24, 2011.

Son of the late Charles and Anna Johnson, Richard was predeceased by two brothers, Arvid and Wilbur, and two sisters, Monica Sinkule and Sara Colliflower. In 1942 he married Elsie H. Anderson and they moved to Albion, where Richard designed and built metal-cutting band saws for Johnson Manufacturing Corporation. After retiring to Traverse City in 1966, he designed and built houses, furniture, and decorative arts. Shortly after he and Elsie moved to Georgia in 1992, Elsie became ill with ALS and he cared for her until she died in 1995.

Richard is survived by his sister, Anita Dean of East Lansing, his son, Alan, of Conyers, his daughter, Ingrid, of Burke, Virginia and six granddaughters.
