(Mary) Leoda Crnkovich

(Mary) Leoda Crnkovich, 91, of South Haven died Wednesday, June 22, at Grace of Douglas.

She was born October 27, 1919 in Dell, Arkansas to James Thomas and Mary Ellis (Golden) Simmons. Mary married Darrell Simpson on October 29, 1935 in Crothersville, Missouri. After his death she married Frank Crnkovich in November of 1979 in Jackson, Michigan. Leoda worked at the South Haven Community Hospital in laundry and the kitchen, the Golden Brown Bakery and the Allegan Hospital. She was a member of the Church of God in South Haven.

She is preceded in death along with her parents by her first husband – Darrell Simpson who died in 1978 and her second husband – Frank Crnkovich in 1996. Daughter – Geraldine Collins in 2003 and sons – Paul Simpson in 1945 and Bob Simpson in 1992. Two brothers – William and Jay Tee Simmons also precedes her.

She is survived by two daughters – Carol Gould of Lakeland, Florida and Juanita Ingraham (David) Wellever of South Haven, Michigan. 20 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Also surviving is her companion, Eddie Walle.

Visitation will be on Friday, July 1, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the First Church of God in South Haven. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Steve Starks officiating. Burial will take place at Monks Cemetery in Geneva Township.
