George John Girard

George John Girard, 78, of South Haven died Monday, April 25 at home.

He was born January 13, 1933 in Hoboken, New Jersey to Blanche (Levoi) and Steven Girard. George served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He married Janice Kiry on July 29, 1961. George worked for Canonie Construction as a heavy equipment mechanic for many years. He then worked for Wyckoff Chemical. Most recently George worked as a greeter for Wal-Mart. In his younger years, George enjoyed hunting with his son Doug, traveling to Las Vegas, reading, and walking.

He is preceded in death along with his parents by his daughter – Deborah Burrows, son – Thomas Hugh Burrows, and Baby Boy Girard and Baby Janet Leigh Girard. Two brothers – Roland and Steven Girard and two sisters – Katherine Girard and Claire Hedrick. Great granddaughter – Skylar Young also precedes him.

He is survived by his wife – Janice Girard of South Haven, Michigan. Two sons – Doug (Amanda) Burrows and Steve Girard both of South Haven, Michigan. Two daughters – Beth Ann (Bou) Nou of Fennville, Michigan and Jackie Adams of Parchment, Michigan.
Ten grand children – Sarah Young, Brian Burrows, Joshua Burrows, Bobbie Wright, Jennifer Wright, Jessica Aldrich, Rachel Crawford, Dillon Adams, Hayley Girard, and Stevie Girard. Three great grand children – Alexa Young, Madison Burrows and Sophia Burrows. One sister – Bertha Minervini of Woodridge, New Jersey also survives.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 30, from 12 – 1 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Memorial services will begin Saturday at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Theron Crawford officiating. Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery.
