Robert "Bob"'s Obituary
Robert “Bob” Harold Hammond Sr, 58, of South Haven died Thursday, March 31 at home. He was born April 12, 1952 in Kirkland, Washington to Harold Walter and Dorothy (Rourke) Hammond. Bob graduated with top honors from Andrews University in Automotive Mechanics. Bob was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam War. He also served as a Chaplin for the American Legion. Bob married Theresa Decker on May 30, 1976 in South Haven. Bob worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for American Aggregate for many years. Bob enjoyed his early morning coffee with his friends at the round table of a local restaurant. He also enjoyed fishing, collecting dough boys, NASCAR racing and spending time with his three grandchildren. Most of all, Bob enjoyed traveling with his wife and running the sound system for Hammond Ministries. Bob attended the First Church of God in South Haven.
He is preceded in death along with his parents by his step-mother – Annie Hammond and step-brother – James Parks.
He is survived by his wife – Theresa Hammond of South Haven, Michigan. Two sons – Robert Hammond Jr., of South Haven, Michigan and Bryan Hammond of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Three grandchildren – Rebekah and Mackenzy “Munchkins” Hammond and Jaxon “Bubba” Hammond. Four brothers – David (Rhonda) Hammond of Washington State, Rick (Linda0 Hammond of South Haven, Michigan, Tim (Joan) Hammond of Hartford, Michigan, and Dennis (Deb) Hammond of Lawton, Michigan. One sister – Vicki (John) Hudson of Paw Paw, Michigan also survives.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 3rd from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday, at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Pastor John Hudson and Pastor Steve Starks officiating. Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery.
