Violet's Obituary

Violet D. Stieve, 102, of South Haven died on February 19, 2011 at her daughter’s home in Hartford.

She was born on January 30, 1909 in Evergreen Park, Illinois to David and Kathryn (Overton) Tait. Violet married Al Stieve on July 7, 1967. Violet was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in South Haven where she was very active in the Ladies Aid. Vi was a very patriotic. She always enjoyed and looked forward to our local parades. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary where she served as president on three different occasions. Vi enjoyed spending time with her husband, family and her dogs, Teddy and Chris. Vi also enjoyed traveling with friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Lawrence Allers, and her latest husband, Alfred P. Stieve . Also by four brothers, Chuck, Malcomb, Howard and Russell Tait.

Violet is survived by her daughter – Anita (Ronald) Jensen of Hartford, Michigan. Five grand children - Lorre (Harley) Darnell, Gregory Brady, Steven (Dawn) Brady, Janette (Jim) Ashley and Kathryn (Gary) Bauer. Eleven great grand children and fifteen great great grand children.

Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 24, from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Memorial services will begin at 1:30 with Pastor Clint Rogas officiating. Burial will be at North Shore Memory Gardens, Hagar Shores, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Building Fund or to South Haven’s Hospice at Home.
