Lawson's Obituary
Lawson McKenzie, 91, of South Haven died Thursday, January 27 at Kairos Dwelling in Kalamazoo.
He was born October 20, 1919 in Rockford, Alabama to Cecil and Rosie Lee (Thomas) McKenzie. Lawson worked in the Street Department for the City of South Haven for 20 years. Lawson was a member of the Second Baptist Church in South Haven where he sang in the choir. He enjoyed the out of doors.
He is preceded in death along with his parents by four sisters – Annie Lee Teague, Rena Drummer, Marybell Traylor and Flossie Williams and a brother – Hudson McKenzie.
He is survived by one sister – Eartice Langston and one brother – J.L. McKenzie both of South Haven, Michigan. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Wake will be Friday, February 4 from 12 – 1 at the Trinity Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 P.M. at the church with Pastor Simon Harrington officiating. Burial will take places at Lakeview Cemetery, South Haven. Kindly share your thoughts and memories on the family’s online guest book at www.FilbrandtFFH.com
