Gertrude's Obituary
Gertrude Pauline Wauchek, 84 of Grand Junction died Thursday, December 9 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.
She was born May 6, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois to Paul and Agnes (Meyer) Geiger. Gertrude married Arbie Waucheck on July 15, 1950 at the First English Lutheran Church in South Haven. She worked for the U. S. Postal Service for 25 years in Grand Junction. Gertrude was a member of the Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church of South Haven. In her younger years, Gertrude enjoyed making macramé pot hangers, bowling and square dancing.
She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband – Arbie Wauchek who died in 1997 and her sisters – Eleanor Warshow and Frances Andrews. Brothers – Al and Paul Geiger.
She is survived by her 3 sons – Paul and Richard (Joyce) Wauchek both of Grand Junction, Michigan and John (Diana) Wauchek of South Haven, Michigan. One grandchild – Jeffery Wauchek. One sister – Louise Cramer of Alsip, Illinois. Sister-in-laws – Billie Geiger of New Port News, Virginia and Mable Osman of South Haven, Michigan, many nieces and nephews also survives.
A memorial service will take place on Wednesday, January 5 at 11:00 A.M. at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Linstrom officiating.
