Edward George's Obituary

Edward George Dietrich, 93, of South Haven died Thursday, December 2 at Harbor Hospice – Poppin Facility in Muskegon.

He was born June 24, 1917 in Pembina, North Dakota to George and Helena (Krause) Dietrich. Edward served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II. Edward married Dorothy McGonaugh on August 29, 1938 in New Folden, MN., after her death he married Lillian Taie on February 6, 1989 in Bangor, Michigan. Edward worked as a carpenter in construction and remodeling for 40 years retiring at the age of 65. He was an extremely talented handyman and enjoyed fixing lots of things including watches.
Edward was a member of the Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church.

He is preceded in death along with his parents by his first wife – Dorothy Dietrich who died in 1987 and his second wife – Lillian Deitrich in 2006.Daughter - Debbie Susemiehl. Two brothers – William and Henry Dietrich and two sisters – Elizabeth Cerny and Elsie Arndt. Stepsons –Melvin Taie and Raymond Taie precedes him.

He is survived by his son – George (Sue) Dietrich of Bitley, Michigan and daughter – Beverly (Eugene) Buss of Moline, Illinois. Step-daughter – Elaine(Ernie) Layne of Medforf, New Jersey and step-daughter-in-law – Mary Taie of South Haven, Michigan. Ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren also survive.

Memorial service will be Saturday, January 22, at 1:00 p.m. at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Linstrom officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to Al-Van Humane Society. Kindly share your thoughts and memories on the family’s online guest book at www.FilbrandtFFH.com.
