Ruth E.'s Obituary
Ruth E. Porter 96, formerly of South Haven, died September 15, 2010 at Countryside Care Center in Jackson MI.
She was born September 9, 1914 near Allegan MI to William and Jean (Dendle) Rumery. After graduating from South Haven High, she married Clyde A. Porter in 1934. They were members of the First Methodist Church. They lived in South Haven until Clyde's death in 2001. Also preceding her in death were 2 brothers, Gordon Rumery of Gobles, and Weldon Rumery of Allegan.
She is survived by 3 children - Carolyn Elmer of Jackson, William "Lon" of McAllen TX, and Dennis (Phyllis) of Staunton VA. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Ruth enjoyed reading, needlework, and flower gardening. She was devoted to her family and cherished her dear friends.
